Pennsylvania

Governor Josh Shapiro's administration secured nearly $400 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants under the IRA to kickstart the Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania (RISE-PA) Project. Recipients of the grants will utilize plans with clean industrial technology, cut emissions, and energy-efficient temperature systems. The project is expected to eliminate nearly 500 million metric tons of emissions in heavy industry, reducing harmful air pollution from a source that is often the hardest to decarbonize. It will also create a skilled workforce of nearly 6,000 new good-paying jobs, most with union contracts and training programs.

"This is one of the largest federal grants Pennsylvania has ever received," said Shapiro, a NewDEAL alum. "This investment will help us reduce toxic air pollution, create thousands of jobs, invest in our energy sector, and continue Pennsylvania's legacy of energy leadership."
