Climate Policy Group
State and local governments have always had a critical role in addressing these challenges and, now more than ever, we must provide the leadership the country needs to limit the devastating effects of global warming.
The dramatic impacts of climate change are not theoretical predictions for the future, but rather part of our present reality. The NewDEAL Forum’s working group on climate change will focus on researching and disseminating best practices on addressing climate change at the state and local level.
Check out “Climate Solutions” for policy recommendations released by the group in August 2020, or watch former co-chairs Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes and Councilmember Andria McClellan speak alongside other climate leaders at the NewDEAL Climate Solutions Roundtable during the 2020 Democratic National Convention.

Climate change impacts every corner of America. Norfolk, VA, sits on 144 miles of flooding coastline. Rising heat threatens Wisconsin’s rich agricultural land as Milwaukee and Madison grapple with pollution-exacerbated injustices. It seems climate change causes problems as varied as the 50 states and thousands of cities and towns in our nation.
